In a unexpected partnership that defies traditional expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.

Strange Questline Disclosed

According to the official statement, "An unusual encounter draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of banned ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the duo with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to save her ally from a clandestine cult.

The mission focuses on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Familiar Places and Metamorphoses

The teaser highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The preview finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the captive, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Rewards and Extra Content

Players who finish the adventure will acquire an exclusive katana in addition to several items secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Content

This patch also adds the game's newest free story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

The series formerly included a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
