Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four major tournaments this year.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from her remaining competitions of the year as a result of a medical condition she has been fighting for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to regain her health prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.

Those preparations will involve trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

Raducanu required blood pressure checks while playing the initial match with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

Raducanu was also moving far from freely in the third set against Zhu because of a lower back issue that has troubled her during parts of the season.

Those results followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 for the first time for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.

She held three match points before losing to Pegula in the third stage in last month's Beijing event.

She secured twenty-eight matches in the current season and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her most impressive week was at the Miami Open in March.

As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route before losing in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.

She mentioned that her three-day trial alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she advanced to round three prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
