Former Doctor Accused of Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.

The Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
