Grief as Popular South African DJ Killed in the City of Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been fatally gunned down in the metropolis of Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old entertainer was confronted by three individuals, with one opened fire on him before running away.
The reason behind the attack is unknown and no one has been arrested have been made, police said.
How It Happened
Law enforcement indicated that Stock was attacked as he was exiting a building close to the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the property supervising the implementation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unidentified individuals, as per local media.
"It is alleged the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," authorities confirmed.
Security camera video reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocks and clad in what resembled a protective services outfit opening fire on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but collapsed a short distance away.
Officials noted that Stock had an weapon on his person and nothing was taken during the assault.
Key evidence, like bullet casings, were discovered at the scene.

Authorities have requested anyone who saw the event who may have seen the suspects to come forward.
"Evidence suggests they walked a long distance after the attack, and officers have been following their trail to establish their whereabouts," added an official.

"I am devastated. I cannot express the pain," were her words.
"Everyone understood he was a representative for countless citizens. He addressed issues courageously about subjects not many people were ready to speak about. This is a tremendous loss."
