Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the US has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.
It said wreckage landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
