Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former coach his previous coach.
Presently working with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks his initial trophy since the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since March of 2023.
Victory also means he has achieved 21 championships at 21 distinct events.
"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.
The player's defensive play style and recurring reactions on court had caused observers to question if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the last five points to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to force a third set.
Moutet saved four early-game chances in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, he secured the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
