The Hit Drama Confirmed for Seventh Season on the British Broadcaster
The acclaimed crime series Line of Duty will make a comeback for its seventh season, announced by the broadcaster.
A brand new six-episode series created by Jed Mercurio will begin filming in Northern Ireland this spring, according to the network.
Vicky McClure shared her enthusiasm about the comeback, stating she was "so excited" about the series' return. Adrian Dunbar remarked, "How wonderful it is to know that the main trio will be back filming together soon."
The last series concluded in recent years with a final episode that attracted over 17 million viewers. Speculation about a new season have been circulating ever since, but official word only arrived recently.
New Challenges for The Team
The seventh season begins with the anti-corruption unit having been disbanded and rebranded as the Inspectorate of Police Standards, according to the announcement.
Steve Arnott, Vicky McClure's role, and Adrian Dunbar's part remain tasked to tackle misconduct within the law enforcement.
Their work "faces unprecedented challenges", and in this climate, the trio are assigned their "most delicate case so far."
Fresh Face and Complex Case
An additional officer, Det Insp Dominic Gough, portrayed as a charismatic officer known for takedowns of criminal networks, faces allegations of misusing his authority to become a offender.
Yet, this investigation could be a intentional diversion from a larger danger still active in the shadows, plot details hinted.
Speaking about the renewal, Jed Mercurio said: "Everyone involved are deeply thankful to the dedicated viewers."
"It's an honor to have had so many followers watch the ups and downs of the unit over multiple series and we are thrilled to be returning for a seventh installment."
Mercurio continued: "Corruption in this country is supposed to have ended while the series was not airing, so I've been compelled to use my creativity."

The Nottingham-born actress stated: "It goes without saying I'm so excited the show is returning! Can't wait to work with Jed, Martin and Adrian again. Belfast, we'll be there shortly!"
