Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of mass production for a new locally engineered defensive UAV to reinforce its air defences. Three initial producers have begun manufacturing, with 11 more getting ready to establish production lines, the defence ministry stated this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Battlefield Conditions

The drones will be based on a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Iranian-made drones. The system has been tested in actual battle and demonstrated effective “at night, under jamming and at low altitudes,” the ministry confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of manufacturing up to 1,000 interceptors each day.

Latest Attack on the Capital Described as Calculated

The Ukrainian president described Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and wicked” following six people lost their lives and dozens injured in a wave of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in the capital shortly after 12 AM this past Friday, with Shahed drones quickly detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukrainian air defences.

The president stated the nation was hit by hundreds of UAVs and 18 missiles. Those killed were at home in an apartment building on the capital's left bank when it was hit. Dozens of additional structures sustained damage, among them the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

International Objection Following Embassy Destruction

Azerbaijan announced it issued a formal objection to the Russian ambassador on Friday after the destruction at its diplomatic compound. Kyiv's Attacks Target Russian Oil Facilities

Moscow's maritime terminal of Novorossiysk halted for a period oil exports on Friday – representing 2% of global supply – after a strike by Ukrainian forces. Military commanders in Kyiv said its military had fired domestically produced missiles and deployed various types of strike drones in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to reduce the military and economic potential of the invading force.”

Ukraine separately struck an oil refinery in Russia’s Saratov region and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels during the night.

Global Restrictions Impact Russian Energy Company

Russia’s second-largest oil producer Lukoil announced on Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers concerning its foreign assets after recent restrictions from the UK and the US and failure of an agreement with commodity trader Gunvor. “The specific deal will be announced after conclusive negotiations are completed and required authorizations have been obtained,” the company commented.

Ukrainian President Schedules Diplomatic Trip to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the Spanish capital, the Spanish capital, next Tuesday to meet with lawmakers a day after his visit to Paris, the chamber of deputies disclosed. Zelenskyy will convene with deputies from all houses of parliament throughout his stay, an official announcement confirmed.
